Historic Window Restoration in a 1920’s Home

Some details are too important to replace. At 2315 Monument Avenue, the original 1920s windows are a defining feature of the home’s character. In this chapter of our historic home renovation, Den Cralle shares the intricate process of historic window restoration in partnership with Gepetto Millworks.

These aren’t just any windows. They’re nearly 100 years old, built into the design of this 1920s Mediterranean Revival home by architect William Lawrence Bottomley. Each one will be carefully dismantled. We’ll refinish the wood and update the glass to improve insulation. All while preserving the original charm.

This type of restoration work demands deep respect for the past. It also requires a commitment to craftsmanship that will help these windows last another century.

Next up? We turn our attention to the carriage house garage doors and revisit Bottomley’s original three-door design to bring it back to life.
