Ever wished you could shop Green Front like a pro? Having a hard time imagining what our furniture could look like in your home? Green Front is the furniture provider for the Southern Living Inspired Community Street of Hope being held Oct. 21-Nov. 5 in Hallsley, right out outside of Richmond, VA. The eight homes built this year feature the latest innovations in both exterior and interior design. And, you can see Green Front furniture on display, in the wild. And even buy it on-site!
Located in Midlothian, the Southern Living Inspired Street of Hope kicks off on October 21st. Proceeds from the partnerships are projected to reach nearly $700,000 and will benefit both the VCU Massey Cancer Center and a special endowment at the VCU School of Business for underprivileged inner-city youths. The entire event lasts 16 days and includes a benefit concert, a preview gala, an auction, and of course, tours of the homes.
We took the opportunity to pick the brains of a few of seasoned designers who worked with Green Front to make the magic happen. Elaine Reeder and Dawn Wolf are two top designers who regularly create jaw-dropping looks for their clients. And they are Green Front shopping pros!
These are their top two recommendations for a having a successful Green Front experience:
1.) Find a Friend
The number one piece of advice Reeder has for visitors is to rely on the expertise of Green Front’s experienced sales staff who are familiar with the huge selection.
“Speak with an associate and let them know what you’re looking for,” Reeder says. “Green Front is a huge place and they can direct you to the right building as well as help locate the specific items you need.” She also suggests a weekday visit over the extreme hustle and bustle of a Saturday.
Elaine’s picks from Green Front Furniture can be seen at Street of Hope in the stunning five-bedroom, four-and-half bath home built by Richmond-based builders Southern Traditions.
2.) Plan: Failing to Plan is Planning to Fail
For Designer Dawn Wolf, preparation is key. Wolf advises first-timers to come prepared when shopping Green Front:
“Visiting the many buildings of Green Front can be an overwhelming experience. The more prep work you do, the better your experience will be. Come with a detailed list of what you need, room dimensions of the space you are filling, a measuring tape and camera.”
Her own personal strategy involves pictures and much-needed rest breaks to assimilate. “As I see a piece I like, I take a picture, record its dimensions, and move on. A lunch break provides a great way to analyze all your fabulous finds and go back to see those that deserve a second look.”
Dawn’s picks from Green Front will be on display at 1724 Tulip Hill Dr. on the Street of Hope in a beautiful five-bedroom home by Biringer Builders.
Hope to see you next week at the Street of Hope. Once you have seen our furniture in the homes, be sure to make the trip to Farmville.
